HELP MAKE BELLTOWN STRONGER

Our voices are louder when we work together, and if we want a Belltown that's affordable, then we have to make some noise! That means getting our friends involved, connecting at events, and raising the money and resources that we'll need to succeed. These are our priorities.

Community Project #1
CONNECTED COMMUNITY NETWORK

The strength of Belltown is its people – the ones who live here, work here, own small  businesses here – and connecting as a community makes us even stronger. Join us on Insta, FB, and the Tweeter.

Check out more ways to get connected.

Community Project #2
GRASSROOTS GATHERINGS

The most powerful thing we can do as human beings is often as simple as just sharing a beer.

Whether to create long term social change - or just for fun, music, or art - gathering together in the world makes it happen. Join us for a gathering in Belltown! :)

Community Project #3
RAISING RESOURCES

The cold hard truth is that creating change in the world often requires cold hard cash. We need rent for space, payroll for people, and money for materials. Most importantly, we need resources to get our message out.

What is #BelltownLOCAL?
A Social Media Story

Rise Up is aggressively promoting local businesses and public places through social media and new content generation, to spread the word about the incredible assets in this community. This includes things like:

  • Branded #hashtags for local businesses, people, and places to promote the neighborhood as a cohesive destination

  • Local content cross-posted on Google, Yelp, and other major platforms to drive customers to small and independent businesses.

  • Expanded communications pathways between local businesses & local people, to generate a network of word-of-mouth advocates.

  • Consolidated calendar and blog of local shows, public events, and other happenings (coming soon).

We've only just launched this effort, but we're generating new pictures every day!

WE'RE RECRUITING BOARD MEMBERS!

Rise Up Belltown is recruiting new board of directors to join our growing team of local stakeholders and advocacy professionals.

We're actively recruiting all types of humans, provided they have an interest in understanding intrinsic privilege, systemic oppression, and social justice. We believe this is essential to fighting displacement.

If you think that describes YOU, then please read more of our story below, and check out the Opportunities & Expectations PDF. If you're interested in learning more, please let us know!

CAN YOU TAKE A PIC WITH UR PHONE?
#HumansOfBelltown Guerrilla Photo Petition

One way we’re telling our story is with an online guerrilla photo petition to the Mayor & Council using Instagram to gather all the photos in one place.

HAVE INSTA? TAKE A PICTURE!

Take a picture on your phone of the face of any "human of Belltown" looking directly into the camera lens, and then post their answers to these questions in the comment section:

Q1: Why are you in #Belltown? (live? visit? work? play? love?)

Q2: What’s your favorite thing about Belltown? (Us?) :)

Q3: What would you say to the Mayor & Council, specifically about Belltown? (Something like "save our damn neighborhood already?")

Be sure to start your comment with the #HumansOfBelltown hashtag, so that your post will pop up in the collective feed.

Yes please post that selfie. Also all your friends.

Please limit to one post per human, but of course post as many humans of Belltown as you can find! #PhotographyCanChangeTheWorld

WE NEED YOUR VOICE!
Belltown Action Crew

One of the best ways you can help Rise Up Belltown is by joining our group conversation about "the hows, the whats, and the whens" of our grassroots campaign for affordability in Belltown.

Use What Works for YOU

We know that group conversations can be the worst, especially if it's on a platform that's not for you.  That's why we're giving you a choice of four ways that you can connect into what's happening. You can join one, or multiple, depending on what works for you.

What Do You Have to Do?

  1. Choose which tool(s) below work best for you, considering that you may get multiple messages a day, at peak activity

  2. Commit to actively participate in the group thread as able, even if you don't have anything in particular to add. ("sounds good!")

  3. Be respectful and inclusive. Specifically, we follow the principles of the Color Brave Space, created by Equity Matters here in Seattle.

ARTISTS & MUSICIANS DISPLACED

Affordable housing and practice space are essential to an active music community, along with affordable bars and gathering places. ALL artistic creation relies on that access, and we hope to preserve that space in Belltown.
